Het op Stings Every Breath You Take gebaseerde nummer I'll Be Missing You was dé hit van het platina debuutalbum No Way Out (1997) van rapper Puff Daddy. Ook met het van de Godzilla soundtrack afkomstige Come With Me, een bewerking van Led Zeppelins Kashmir, had hij succes. Op zijn tweede solo-album Forever staan wederom enkele uiterst commerciële nummers met slim gekozen samples: I'll Do This For You (de danskraker Get Off van Foxy), Angels With Dirty Faces (Fantasy van Earth, Wind & Fire) en Best Friend (Sailing van Christopher Cross). De rest van de cd bestaat uit doorsnee, op den duur vermoeiende hiphopsongs met gastrollen voor o.a. R. Kelly, Busta Rhymes en Lil' Kim. (WvdZ)
